Agenda Item Type:
Information Item
Discussion:
Executive Director shared the legislative landscape (disarray) is candidates are on attack for no support for education. Coalitions continue to work on stuff. Relatively quiet around the Capitol. Bromm have visited with all the new candidates. Senator visits with Wendy Deboer (mostly Bennington) and Megan Hunt (mostly OPS) are very supportive of education. Cost per pupil is being discussed. Data is not consistent. Sales tax group discussing a straight 3% sales tax across the board, no exemptions. Senator Krist/Walz support/interest is growing. Positive feedback from the debate last week. TEOSA Study group has not arrived at any conclusions. Senator Vargas's group is doing an interim study to examine alternative teacher certificate programs.
