September 9, 2019 at 7:00 PM - Board of Education Regular Meeting

This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution.  A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office.  Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting.  The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary.

Information concerning the Open Meeting Law, Chapter 84, Article 14 of Nebraska State Statutes, is posted on the bulletin board in the back of the meeting room.

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to any topic concerning the school district – since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. Future discussion can be requested as an agenda item. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. No complaints regarding specific staff members will be heard during a public meeting. The District has established separate procedures for complaints against individual employees. Thank you for your participation.

Items to Point Out:

1. $1,300 to Alfred Benesch & Company is for our three year asbestos inspection.  These are required by law.
2. $5,400 to Cloy Stutzman is for summer painting.  All of the metal doors we replaced at the high school several summers ago as per fire marshal requirements had never been painted and so Cloy used an oil based painting process.  He also repainted doors and trim that were chipped or faded.  He also did some various locations throughout both buildings.  We also hired Cloy, the other $180 for repairing and painting all of the holes in the elementary halls and classrooms due to having to move fire alarms and strobe lights to meet regulations.  This was all caused by having to update the fire alarm system.
3. $11,536 to ESU 6 (Olivas) was for the repair of laptops and desktop computers - new screens, batteries, keyboard parts, etc.  This was higher than expected but we have no one on staff that can repair those items.
4. $7,500 to Milford Plumbing was for replacement of a water heater.  The control panel shorted out and we had a leak we had repaired several times and could not be repaired any longer.
5. $2,630.50 to Pioneer Athletics is for the yearly supply of field paint.
6. $2,838 and $937 to Wing Construction is for door and lock repairs.  This includes replacing wore out door handles, hinges, door closures, repairing our handicap or automatic door closures, etc.

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session.

The Board President will restate the reason for Closed/Executive Session after the motion has been acted on.
