May 11, 2015 at 7:30 PM - Board of Education Regular Meeting

This agenda contains a list of subjects known at the time of its distribution.  A copy of the agenda reflecting any changes will be available for public inspection during normal business hours in the District Office.  Except for items of an emergency nature, the agenda shall not be altered later than twenty-four hours before the meeting.  The Board reserves the right to alter the order of items, as it deems necessary.

Information concerning the Open Meeting Law, Chapter 84, Article 14 of Nebraska State Statutes, is posted on the bulletin board in the back of the meeting room.

This is the public’s opportunity to speak to items on the agenda. This is also the public’s opportunity to speak to any topic concerning the school district – since it is not an agenda item the board cannot discuss or take action on the matter at this time. Future discussion can be requested as an agenda item. To be recognized, all participants must complete the Request to Address the Milford Board of Education Form. No complaints regarding specific staff members will be heard during a public meeting. The District has established separate procedures for complaints against individual employees. Items to Point Out:
Bond Fund - fees associated with refinancing the bonds.
Building Fund - purchase of lot east of the bus barn.
$1,949 to Albert Pritchett is for bus seat repairs.  This is an annual item but completing some of the work earlier.
$4,015 to Brown and Saenger is for paper supplies (15-16 coop paper order)
$1,316 to the Lampo Group is for our 15-16 Personal Finance class.  We get a discount when we order ahead.
$4,886 to Pearson is for Elementary Science books and teacher materials.
$2,457 to Quill is higher than normal due to ordering a replacement projector and some bulbs.  Quill had the best price this time.
$200 to UNL Barkley Speech Language is for a vision/speech language evaluation on a student.  We use them for testing when necessary.  This is a special education expense.

1. Olivia O'Dell - she will be in the 7th grade.  She attended school here up until last year and this past year she has been attending school in Arizona while living with her dad.  She has moved to Dorchester with her mom and Dorchester has approved the option request to attend in Milford.
2. Bella Divis - she will be in Kindergarten.  This is Olivia's sister.  She has been attending Little Leaps the past two years.
3. Brianna Ness - she will be in 12th grade.  She currently attends Seward HS.

2015-16 Kindergarten is currently at 46 students with 3 teachers (15,15,16).  So we have room.

The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Closed/Executive Session for 1) the protection of the public interest, or 2) the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and/or the individual has not requested a public meeting. When making a motion to enter into Closed/Executive Session, the member making the motion should be as specific as possible as to the reason(s) for executive session.

The Board President will restate the reason for Closed/Executive Session after the motion has been acted on.
