Mr. Mezger reported preparations are in order for the start of school on August 16, and is looking forward to working at Diller-Odell Public Schools

The Board has reviewed information regrading the change, and view it as favorable, and time for the change.  Mr. Mezger has a lot of experience with an 8 period day, and will work with Mr. Meyerle and Mrs. Becker to find a schedule that best fits our students and staff.

The change will come at the cost of about 5 minutes from each current class, but will provide the opportunity for more options in the day.

All of the student laptops and ipads were imaged over the summer with all of the new updates.  New ipads and ipad cases were purchased this summer for 7th and 8th grade students.  New laptop bags were purchased for 9-12 grade students.

Randy Herrick from the CTS group presented study information to the Board on the subject of building a new competition gym.  The Board will continue to discuss the possibility of the project and may schedule a public meeting later in the fall to allow for patrons to ask questions on the scope and cost of a project.  The Board will continue studying information on the possibility of a project to determine if they wish to proceed.

Superintendent Meyerle gave a brief budget overview for 2017-18.  He will plan on a Special Budget Planning meeting as done annually for later this month.

Superintendent Meyerle noted that he had emailed some preliminary teacher negotiation information to the Board negotiation Committee.  The Board will seek out a meeting with the DOEA for September or October.

President Stohs adjourned the meeting at 9:15pm.

A Special Meeting on Budget Planning will be held at 7:00pm August 23, 2107 at the Elementary School Media Center in Diller.  The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.

The next Regular Board meeting is scheduled for 7:30pm, September 11, 2017 at the High School Media Center in Odell.  The 2017-2018 Budget Hearing and Tax Request Hearing are scheduled for 7:20pm and 7:25pm on September 11.  The Board of Education will usually adhere to the sequence of the published agenda, but reserves the right to adjust the order of items if necessary and may elect to amend the agenda as deemed necessary.
