5.1. Approval of New Bus Budget in the amount of $100,000.00
Rationale:
Executive Summary:
The committee, and administration has been working on purchase price of a "NEW" bus (Thomas Model Preferred) however, getting a company to provide a direct quote for one single new bus is difficult. In addition to having to provide several features, most companies do not sell them singly, unless they are an older year model, and then it is still difficult to get a price. I have been able to find a few sites that sell older model buses, with little to no miles on them, but they don't always meet our spec needs, for example larger or smaller numbers of seating capacity, or air breaks verse hydrologic, of other non-Thomas models. My recommendation to the board is to approve a set amount, I's Suggest $100K for the purchase of a bus, and then allow the committee the latitude to select the best option. This would potentially allow the purchase to take place prior to the June BOE meeting. Currently the best Thomas bus I have found is a 2019 with 12,000 miles on it for $55,000. It is located in Tennessee so there would be delivery expense to be added. (See Attachement)
