6. Business Items
|
|
6.1. Consideration of sale of John Deere 850 tractor
Rationale:
Executive Summary:
With the addition of the new mover and snow removal machine, I would recommend the John Deere tractor's sale. With the new machine, there is little to no need for the tractor, and it occupies a considerable amount of storage space that could be better utilized. I recommend that the board grants sale of the tractor and uses big iron to sell it. Aaron has experience with big iron sales, and I believe this would be a profitable venture for the district.

6.2. Consideration of Resignation of Janice Wolfinger as Vocational Education Teacher and FFA sponsor. Mrs. Wolfinger request job separation on November 13, 2020.
Rationale:
Executive Summary:
On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Mrs. Wolfinger asked to have a meeting with the administration after school. Mr. Schmidt, Mrs, Wolfinger and myself were present at this meeting. Mrs. Wolfinger presented a letter of resignation addressed to the SEM Board of Education and the SEM Administration, where she indicated her wishes to resign on November 13, 2020. Mrs. Wolfinger was asked if she had any comments on the question on her resignation, and she indicated she had none. The letter was accepted, and information was kept confidential until the November BOE meeting. Mrs. Wolfinger did indicate that she will be informing both students and staff of her decision, which is her right to do. It was discussed that once she informed one group of people, then it would spread quickly. From the district standpoint, the administration will neither confirm nor deny anything before the board addressing this issue. Recommendation: I recommend the resignation of Mrs. Janice Wolfinger as of November 13, 2020.

7.2. Discussion of Transition Phase for Board
Rationale:
Executive Summary:
Anytime a board has a turnover in members, a transition meeting is important. This year the board will be transitioning three board members. To create a greater sense of importance for our transition, the three board members who will be leaving have well over 40 years of combined experience and happen to represent the current board leadership positions. Mr. Williams has been the Board President for the past three years and has brought a sense of direction and order to the board's process. Mr. Burden has been the Vice-President of the board for at least his past three terms and is the SEM state representative. Mr. Glatter is the district Sec/Tres and is responsible for ensuring the board's publications and notices are conducted in legal order.
