Public Meeting Minutes: June 28, 2022 at 5:30 PM - Board of Education Special Meeting

1. Declaration of Intend – Open Meetings Act

Discussion: The Special Board of Education Meeting met Tuesday June 28th 2022 at 5:30 pm in the school Library at Sumner Eddyville Miller School.

2. Call to Order

Discussion: Notice of the meeting was posted on June 26th, 2022 to the SEM Mustang school web site and Facebook page for the board meeting to be held on June 28, 2022 at 5:30p.m. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the published notice. All proceedings hereafter as shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. This meeting was conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act, Chapter 84, Article 14 posted in the School Library. President Chris Reiter opened the board meeting at 5:30pm

3.1. Acceptance of Resignation/Retirement of Superintendent Kevin Finkey

Mr Finkey read his resignation letter to the board. Chris Reiter mentioned Kearney has a lot of retired superintendents available for an interim and hoping to set up a meeting. Passed with a motion by Mr Dirk Triplett and a second by Mrs. Jennifer Anderson.

3.1.1. Agreement with NASB for interim Superintendent

All the board members agreed to have NASB do the search for interim Superintendent and get the board some candidates for interviews. Chris Reiter suggested the board have an exit interview for MR Finkey and Mr Schmidt which board members agreed to. Board members are to email Chris Reiter any questions for exit interview by May 7th. The decision was made to have a special meeting at 6pm July 11th prior to the regular meeting at 8pm for the interim superintendent. Passed with a motion by Mrs. Jana Hoos and a second by Mr. Matthew Hothem.
