Rationale:  NASB will be conducting the Interim Superintendent Evaluation process this year.  The timeline is as follows:
    1.  Wed. Nov. 2^nd - Tue. Nov. 8^th: Superintendent completes the self-
         evaluation
    2.  Thur. Nov. 10^th: Send board self-evaluation results
    3.  Thur. Nov. 10^th - Sun. Nov. 20^th: Board members complete their
         evaluation
 Final Report & Executive Summary will be emailed to the board president by Mon. Nov. 28^th (The board president will also receive a follow up call from a Board Leadership Team Member to discuss results.)

Rationale:  This property consists of 5 lots.  The asking price is $40,000 Last years tax information is attached.

Rationale:  All elementary (K-6) teachers as well as McKenna Unick and Haley Kociemba are attending LETRS training this year and next. The LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) suite is professional learning that provides educators and administrators with deep knowledge to be literacy and language experts in the science of reading. LETRS teaches the skills needed to master the fundamentals of reading instruction- phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and language. 

Research shows that only 35% of students are reading proficiently, but 95% of students CAN learn to read. And while teachers are the most essential factor in student success, only about half of teaching institutions effectively prepare teachers for literacy instruction. Teaching reading requires a deep understanding of the processes and science behind it. LETRS is the professional learning program rooted in the science of reading that empowers teachers. 

LETRS for educators is an investment in teachers’ literacy knowledge and professional practice. Teachers gain essential skills to master the fundamentals of literacy instruction required to apply and transform student learning. 

While the SEM teachers are excited for this opportunity and training, it requires many hours outside of teacher contracted hours to complete the coursework. It takes approximately 48-60 independent work hours to complete each year. These hours are in addition to the four face-to-face training dates set by ESU 10. It is a two year commitment by teachers. 

All independent work (reading, online videos, quizzes, and tests) must be completed before each face-to-face session. The work must be completed in sequential order and teachers will not be able to advance in the coursework online without completing the work and taking an online assessment. 

There is some professional development time built into our teacher contracted hours, but there are other district professional development needs that also need to be considered for that time. During the first quarter there was no professional development time set aside for teachers to complete LETRS work.

There is no proposed hourly rate that SEM teachers would like to receive for their time working on the course work. The amount of hours will be dependent on the professional development schedule that is set by administration. The entire coursework is 48-60 independent hours per school year for two years. 

It is known that other school districts that are in the LETRS cadre at ESU are paying their teachers a stipend for their time outside of school hours to complete the work. This ranges from $20-25 an hour.
