Discussion:  Brent Heusman - Grounds Work

Discussion: 

• 2017--Indemnification & Liability Insurance
• 3016--Smoking.  We will use Option A.
• 3028--Sex Offenders.  In regards to our conversation about whether we should leave that paragraph: It's better to leave it there to shield against a claim of liability and to avoid parents getting mad because you didn't tell them a sex offender was in the area.  Informing all parents of sex offenders in the area could help reduce risk of exposure to them.  However, the school just has to provide the link to the Sex Offender Registry rather than publishing the name and address of the offenders.  
• 3046--Animals at Schools.  I'm not sure that the board decided which direction to go on this, so will need a recommendation prior to adoption.
• 3050--Technology in the Classroom
• 3053--Nondiscrimination
• 4048--Assessment Administration & Security
• 5001.1-Admission of Students
• 5017--Routine Directory Information.  I checked with KSB on this one as well.  We can take out place of birth, major field of study, social media usernames or handles (as long as we never use these to tweet out information, example may be; good job@studentname.  The last bullet they strongly recommend we keep but we can delete "user ID".  Directory information is considered public record under state law so if "Joe Blow" wants that information we would have to disclose it with few exceptions.

• Facility Use Application--Per KSB we can waive the requirement that groups purchase their own insurance.  They understand how prohibiting some groups to use or facility would be political suicide.

• 2002 Organization of the Board--Updates the Americanism Committee to the Committee on American Civics.  Replaces current policy.
• 2006 Complaint Procedures--added information about Special Educational Services & Related Services to Students with Disabilities.  Replaces current policy.
• 2014 Relationship with District Legal Counsel--replaces the word "attorney" with "district legal counsel".  Replaces current policy 9125.
• 3003.1 Bidding for Construction, Remodeling, Repair, or Related Projects Financed with Federal Funds.  New info added from auditors & NDE.
• 3039 Threat Assessment & Response.  New Policy for us.
• 3052 Leasing Personal Property.  Replaces 3100.  Need to add $ amounts.
• 4052 Job References to Prospective Employers.  New policy
• 5016 Student Records. Replaces 5202
• 5022 Investigations, Arrests, and Other Student Contact by Law Enforcement & Health & Human Services
• 9330 Parliamentary Procedures.
