President Gould called the meeting to order at 6:36 PM and the Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Discussion:
Motion by Black, second by Breitkreutz to excuse the absence of Matt Blanchard for personal reasons. RCV 5-0. Motion carried.

3. Open Meeting Law
Discussion:
President Gould reminded the audience that the Open Meeting Laws are displayed in the back of the room for their review.

Discussion:
Eleanah Enevoldsen and Olivia Nelson presented their speeches to the Board that they gave at the Jr High National Speech Championship in Texas. Appreciation was extended to all custodial staff for their hard work preparing our buildings and grounds for the 2018-2019 school year.

Congratulations to Olivia Nelson, a National Champion in Informative Speech. New Teachers will be at the high school on August 9 for New Staff Orientation. We as an administrative team are planning a picnic for the new teachers and their families as well as their mentors around the first of August. All staff will report on August 10 at the high school. Students start school on August 15 with dismissal 12:00 PM. Open house for 6th grade, 7th grade and any new students will be Monday, August 13 from 6:00-7:00 PM. Administrator days are in Kearney on July 25-27. Whitney Lehn has agreed to be the long term sub for our AG classes this fall. She is from Waverly and now lives in Utica. She has several years of teaching AG classes at East Butler and Shelby/Rising City. Submitted by Greg Wilmes, Activities Director/Assistant Principal Summer camps continue throughout the summer with youth/HS volleyball and basketball being complete. Many will be held later in July. Weightlifting took the week of July 4th off before finishing the last three weeks of July. Gym floors were refinished on July 6 at the High School and July 7 at the Elementary schools. The Spanish trip was June 18-28. Submitted by Shelly Dostal, Elementary Principal at Valparaiso/K-6 Curriculum Director Jumpstart Kindergarten Class continues to meet each Monday and Wednesday in Valparaiso and each Tuesday and Thursday in Ceresco. Thank you to Mrs. Kendra Carlson and her assistants for leading this program. Planning for 2018-2019 - The administrators have been working to develop plans for the school year. Custodial crews have been working in the building. Classroom spaces have been assigned and teachers are already in the process of organizing their rooms. The School Improvement Team will meet on August 7. A MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Support) committee meeting is scheduled for August 2 as well as science standard work at the ESU#2. The back to school PTO pool party will be held on August 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Wahoo pool. New teachers will attend RC orientation on August 9 with all staff reporting on August 10. New to the education profession teachers will attend the ESU#2 New Teacher Academy on August 7 and 8. Meet and Greet your teacher time is scheduled for August 13. The first day of school will be August 15, dismissing at the elementary at 11:45 AM. The administrative team attended the Professional Learning Communities at Work Institute in St. Charles, Missouri, on June 12-14. The sessions were very informative and I learned a lot! I will be attending Administrator Days in Kearney on July 25, 26, and 27. Submitted by Ann Egr, Elementary Principal at Ceresco/Special Education Director The custodial staff has been working hard. Summer cleaning will hopefully begin at the Ceresco building in mid-July. Jumpstart to Kindergarten is in full swing. Students meet on Tuesday and Thursday in Ceresco. The Administration Team traveled to St. Charles, MO, June 11-14 for a Solution Tree Institute. The primary focus of the Institute was on Professional Learning Communities. As a team, we are excited to begin this PLC journey. Mrs. Jacki Barry and I attended The Young Child Institute in Kearney, NE, June 26-27. The Administration Team will be attending Administrator Days in Kearney, NE, July 24-27. Final Special Education end of the year data and all reports have been submitted to The Department of Education. Thank you to Mr. Jim Marsh for all the assistance and dedication to this process. |

7.3. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
The administrative team attended the Solution Tree PLC Institute in June. Professional Learning Communities (PLC) is an ongoing process in which educators work collaboratively to achieve better results for the students they serve. Through Collective Teacher Efficacy, teachers can positively influence student outcomes, including those who are disengaged and/or disadvantaged.

Superintendent Joel updated the Board of Education on the progress of the Air Quality Project at the Ceresco building and the Lagoon Project at the High School.
