1. Call to Order and Pledge of Allegiance
Discussion:
President Gould called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM and the Pledge of Allegiance was said.

2. Motion to Excuse Board Member's Absence
Discussion:
Roll Call was taken with Lori Springer being absent for her second unexcused absence.

Discussion:
The audience was reminded that the Open Meeting Laws would be followed.

4.1. Resignation of Superintendent - Consider, discuss and take necessary action

Discussion:
Discussion item was the letter of resignation that had been submitted by Dr. Joel to the Board. Discussion was had between members that Dr. Joel is expected to fulfill his current contract through June 30, 2021. Motion by Blanchard, second by Lange that the Board would accept Dr. Joel's letter of resignation taking effect after his current contract is fulfilled on June 30, 2021. RCV 5-0. Motion carried.

4.2. Superintendent Search - Consider, discuss and take all necessary action
Discussion:
Options for next steps for the Board were presented by President Gould. Following discussion it was decided to look into Search Firms to assist RC with the hiring of a new Superintendent. The Board discussed whether to hire an Interim Superintendent for the upcoming school year and then proceed with an extensive search later this fall for a permanent replacement. It was decided that it would be better to look into an Interim Superintendent at the present time. President Gould talked about some possible names of people who are currently doing interim jobs across the state; she also received names of candidates from Dr. Doug Christensen who teaches classes for new Superintendents at Doane University.
Motion by Lange, second by Blanchard to have President Gould contact four entities and ask them to present via Zoom to the Board regarding their search process and costs no later than Wednesday, May 26, 2021. RCV 5-0. Motion carried. Motion by Breitkreutz, second by Burklund to set a Special Meeting for 8:30 AM on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 to talk with search firms via Zoom. RCV 5-0. Motion carried. |
