Discussion:
Mr. Kobza explained the new joint public hearing law requiring any political subdivision within a county to have a joint public hearing initiated by the county if it is increasing its tax ask by more than 2% plus allowable growth percentage from the prior year. He then presented and explained a preliminary 2022-23 budget. Currently, the preliminary budget has a projected total tax ask of $5,833,333 with a total levy of 1.132163 With this budget we would be over the 2% tax ask. This increase is predominantly due to reduction in State Aid and the increase in Budget Authority. The timeframe for the September meetings will be a regular meeting as scheduled on 9/12; a county public hearing to be scheduled by Nuckolls County, then local budget hearing and budget meetings to follow the county hearing.
