December 11, 2019 at 6:30 PM - REGULAR MEETING

Discussion:  The regular business meeting of ESU 15 was called to order at 6:30 P.M. on December 11, 2019, at Taste of Texas, McCook, NE.

Discussion:  Pledge of Allegiance was cited.

Discussion:  President Repass advised every one of the open meetings act being posted and available.

Discussion:  President Repass verified that the ESU 15 Board meeting was advertised according to policy.

Discussion:  Present were: Cheri Burke, Dennis Chipman, Marty Conroy, Dave Jibben,  Don Remington, Kate Repass and Allison Sandman

Discussion:  Absent Board Members: Metzger, Loop and Stevens.

Discussion:  December Payables: $128,241.26 and Payroll: $76,512.65. 

Discussion:  Mr. Calvert reminded the board that the January board meeting is a reorganizational meeting and that they would be appointing members to the committees.
Member Chipman update the board on the NESUBA meeting, member numbers are trending in a downward slide, but he wishes to remain a member for the ESU 15 Board. 

Discussion:  Mr. Calvert update the board on the Board Workshop to be held in North Platte on January 22, 2020. 

Discussion:  NASB State Conventions highlights: Speakers at state convention were very good and very up lifting. One presenter from California compared administration to being conductors of a train.

Discussion:  AESA Convention highlights: One presentation discussed the different personalities and how to handle different ones. A West Virginia presenter discussed their work with "poverty" kids and how they had more "trauma" than "poverty" and the good results they got when they addressed the trauma. 

Jesse Stevens joined meeting at 6:48 pm.

Discussion:  Mr. Calvert updated the board on the upcoming elections and which members would be up for reelection.  Jibben has decided to not rerun in the next election after twenty four years on the ESU 15 board. Mr. Calvert will continue to update the members that will be up for reelection as the filing date comes closer.

Discussion:  Mr. Calvert updated the board on the roof, he is waiting on a second bid that will include similar materials. 

Discussion:  Mr. Calvert update the board on the SIMPL program. Mr. Calvert and Todd Weimer attended a workshop in November to learn more on the process  Mr. Calvert is hoping we will be caught up by May.  SIMPL might provide us with information on what services we may need to add or things we don't need. 

At the ESU 15/ESU 16 Advisor meeting in North Platte school ratings were discussed.  Senator Groene was present and spoke about a student discipline bill which would allow teachers to remove a student out of the classroom.

Mr. Calvert updated the board on the upcoming sixty day Legislative session. 

Discussion:  Next Board Meeting is January 8th, 2020 @ 7:30 at ESU 15 in Trenton, NE.
