Discussion:
Eric Dennis-Elementary Principal
Start of the year assessments were completed with students this week, and thanks to those staff involved for doing a great job. Staff evaluations begin next week through March. Mrs. Glazebrook and I will continue to meet with each teacher team regarding UDL goals to meet one of our district initiatives. To participate in the ESU Community of Practice Consortium, which helps principal roles in the school improvement process. The Early Childhood Center Teacher has held family meetings and plans to have monthly engagement nights. A meeting will occur to discuss numbers and funding regarding our ECC. Rob Geise-Jr./Sr. High Principal Reminder that we are a school spotlight at the Nebraska MTSS Conference in October. Formal evaluations for teachers are underway. November 5th at 10 a.m. is the Nebraska Supreme Court Oral Arguments. Update provided regarding the gym sound system. Starting year two of our soft skills program, which is applicable to all professions, and informational emails will be sent home. Outlined the progress and benefits of our dual credit courses, to include a document listing the available courses for our students. Molly Stieren-Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Fall sports participation numbers provided. Marching band starting up and are looking at an overnight trip that they had fundraisers for. Mock trial has the largest number yet this year with three teams. Our staff has done a great job of signing up to work events and very appreciate of those stepping up when asked. FFA is much more active and attending more competitions, getting involved in more opportunities, such as Husker Harvest Days. Upcoming dates provided for conference tournaments and we are hosting district Cross Country at the Cass County Fairgrounds. Homecoming will be the last home football game on October 24th and the dance to be on the following day. Lisa Bergmeyer-Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Provided an explanation of assessments, to include a chart with percentages. State assessment results from Spring 24-25 for 3rd-8th grade were sent home, but not yet open to the public. Reminder regarding the assessment for kindergarten through 10th grade, working through glitches and helping teachers learn how to use that system. We have a goal of 80%, and you will see that we are there or nearly there. This data will allow us to identify what other supports can be put in place. Numbers will be updated this week from testing that was being completed on Friday. Nick Krause-Director of Student Services Our district met requirements for the state this year, compared to previous years, and no further action is needed. A team was created to fulfill the federal designation of the Additional Targeted Support and Intervention Series, and this will help a specific population struggling with testing. This is a process to observe growth and resources will be provided, with our first session in November. Met with ESU 3, Adrienne Kennedy, who will be our new Transition Specialist and will assist with identifying possible needs within special education. Update provided on grants that are in process or submitted. Shared upcoming meetings such as a Community of Practice, NeMTSS, and the Tri-State SPED Law Conference. |

Superintendent Report
Discussion:
Mike Apple
The storage building is up and holding school vehicles, but is still in need of garage doors, power, fencing and cement. The Senior High has walls going up and doors for the interior have arrived and some are installed with temporary glass in place. Once that is completed, the drywall and carpet will be coming in for the classrooms. The CTE area has had footings dug and conversation has taken place about the possibility of a portable temporary classroom to allow more time for the kitchen remodel. If that is decided, a team will come in to talk to the board to clarify costs and any concerns. The Elementary has had footings going in and it appears the walls will be going up before long. Still need to repair the fire hydrant and a plan is in place. The State NASB conference is coming up in November and the invite is open to board members. Requested to speak at a State of the County Event on September 17th about our district and the process of the bond. |
