13.2.2. Congratulations to the 13 LHS powerlifters who qualified for nationals at the USA Powerlifting High School National Qualifying meet held at LHS on December 14. They include Emmely Munoz, Sindy Morales, Ashley Renteria, Jennifer Vazquez, Veronica Ramirez, Kimberly Laguna, Henry Velasquez, Ngonidzashe Chitumba, Dominek Villalon, Greysen McFarland, Maurisio Andres, Emmerson Medina, and Samir Maday. They will compete in Appleton, Wisconsin, in March.

13.2.3. Congratulations to the LHS Girls Wrestling Team for winning the Kearney, Crete, and North Platte invitationals on December 7, 14, and 28, respectively. Individual champions at Kearney included McKenzie Furgison, Ashley Najera, and Delilah Solis. Rylee Church, Ashley Najera, and Delilah Solis were champs at Crete while Solis and Najera were also champs at North Platte.

13.2.4. Congratulations to LHS wrestler Daylen Naylor for winning his weight class at the Jim McGrath-Ralston Invite on December 20 and for being selected as the meet's outstanding wrestler.

The Nebraska legislative session began on November 8 with a lot of potential topics affecting public education on tap including the state's $432M projected budget shortfall, the governor's desire to scrap the current state aid formula and lower property taxes, possible trans student legislation, etc. A lot to keep an eye on.
