9.a. Board Members
Discussion:
Board member Tory Schwartz welcomed back the staff for the year and thanked Director of Facilities Travis Rickey and the maintenance crew for the work they did over the summer, both inside the buildings and on district grounds. He noted the team has done a great job of keeping up the grounds, painting inside buildings, and other tasks.
Board Vice President Beth Merrigan stated it was nice to see all the staff and that she is looking forward to the new school year. Board President Scott Reisig echoed Beth's comments, noting the District leadership continues working throughout the summer. Scott thanked them for their work and stated he is looking forward to another great school year. Board Member Mark Lang welcomed back staff members and wished them a great year. Mark stated he had a chance to visit Westmoor Elementary and commented it is coming along well and looks very nice. |

Discussion:
Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick stated the District welcomed 19 new certified staff members approximately 10 days ago. Those staff members include 16 teachers, one registered nurse, one assistant principal, and one Speech Language Pathologist Technician. Dr. Dick noted this is a very small group of new hires, which speaks to the District's commitment to recruitment and retention efforts. Returning certified staff members were welcomed back on Thursday, August 6, and the past three days have been full of meaningful work. Dr. Dick credited principals and district leaders for the planning involved with the past few days, especially as the number of trainings and requirements for all staff members continues to grow each year. Dr. Dick noted that orientation for Bluffs Middle School would be held on Wednesday, August 12 and orientation for Scottsbluff High School would be held on Tuesday, August 11. Dr. Dick stated that staff are looking forward to welcoming students and parents back into the buildings, and thanked district leaders and principals for their work and preparation for these important days that help kick off a great school year.
