Rationale:  Approve by consent items in Section B of the agenda identified with an asterisk and receive the information and proposals in Section D of the agenda identified with an asterisk.

Rationale:  The minutes of the April 5, 2011, meeting of the Board of Directors were sent to all members of the Board of Education along with a request for proposed modifications.  No proposed modifications were received.

Attached are the Minutes of the April 5, 2011, Foundation Board meeting.

Rationale:  Acknowledge receipt of the Treasurer's Report for the period of September 1, 2010, through August 31, 2011.

Rationale:  Approve the 2011-12 proposed budget as presented.

Attached is the proposed Foundation budget for 2011-12.

Rationale:  The Family Assistance Program (FAP) was established in the spring of 1988 as a program of the Bellevue Public Schools Foundation.  The program was designed to address family problems which negatively impact the educational performance of students.  Earlier staff discussed with the Board that we would eliminate this program for the 2011-2012 school year because of programs now in place in the District.

The Bellevue Public Schools Family and Student Empowerment (FASE) program has replaced the Family Assistance Program.  There are four team members through FASE that serve as liaisons between families, schools, and community agencies.  The team members work to connect families to the appropriate counseling, resources and agencies in order to help students succeed academically, behaviorally, emotionally, and socially.

Rationale:  Attached is the Fall schedule for the Lied Activity Center.  There are many classes available for children and adults.  The Center is constantly busy with intramurals, programs, and special events.

Rationale:  The Bellevue Public Schools Foundation was formed in April, 1985.  The Foundation is a 501(C)(3) organization organized and operated on a not-for-profit basis and exclusively for educational purposes.

The primary purpose of the Foundation is to develop and maintain programs that are in the best interest of the Bellevue Public School District and the community.  The Foundation can inform the public regarding activities and programs of the Foundation and District through written and other communication means.  The Foundation can solicit and receive contributions, gifts, grants, devises or bequests of real or personal property or both from individuals, foundations, partnerships, associations, governmental bodies, or public or private corporations.   These gifts, grants, etc., shall be used directly or indirectly to carry out the purposes of the Foundation.

The Board may establish and financially support programs, including programs for before-and-after-school or preschool services, an employee and family assistance program, scholarship program for graduates, enrichment programs, international school-to-school partnerships, alumni program, adult education services, educational alternative programs, and a wellness program for staff.
