Rationale: 

The Norfolk Public School District's Board of Education meeting is called to order.

Rationale:  If any board member is absent, there will need to be a  motion to excuse the absence.

Rationale: 

This is a legal meeting of the board of education, as advertised by the means specified in board policy. A complete copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the board room for your review. A copy of the agenda is available at the desk of the recording secretary.

Rationale: 

The Norfolk Public Schools staff, administration and students would like to thank the individuals that serve on the Board of Education for their dedicated service.

The students and staff involved with our Career Academies are especially thankful for your commitment to their programs. Our Culinary Arts Career Academy students have prepared today's meal for you using chickens raised by our Agriculture Career Academy students, and our Metals Career Academy students have created a hitch-cover for you as a special gift. 

Thank you for all the time and effort you volunteer in order to insure that all of our students are provided with outstanding learning opportunities that prepare them to meet their goals for the future.

Rationale: 

The Nebraska Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) honored Norfolk’s Daycos with the "Friend of Education Award" at the 2017 State Principals Conference in Lincoln on 12/1/2017.  They were nominated for this award for their outstanding work serving youth in the Norfolk community.

We have several staff and students from Jefferson Elementary School here to present this award to Daycos employees.

Rationale: 

Kathleen Timperley -- Language Arts Instructor at the Senior High is retiring after 42 years of service to the district

Melissa Buller -- 4th grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary is resigning at the end of the year; relocation

Rationale:  Last year, the Board approved the Envisions Math program for grades K-8, and the purchase of Envisions materials for grades 3-8. At this time, we need to obtain permission to purchase Envisions materials for grades K-2.  

Rationale: 

Our next regular Board meeting will be held Monday, February 12th.  The Study Session will begin at 5:30 and will be followed by the Business Meeting at 6:30.   All components of these meetings will be held at the NPS Central Administration Offices and will be open to the public unless an Executive Session is needed in order to protect the interest of the district or the reputation of an individual.
