Rationale: 

This hearing is for the budget for the 2009-2010 school year. The purpose of this hearing is to give taxpayers the opportunity to provide support, opposition, criticism, or suggestions and observations regarding the budget.

Ms. Schwartz will review budget items and the board will provide an opportunity for public comment. The adoption of the budget will take place by resolution during the board meeting and not at the hearing.   

Rationale:   

It is the vision of the Norfolk Public Schools to actively engage all students in learning
through a relevant and comprehensive standards-based curriculum that integrates
 21^st century skills, tools, context, and assessments.

-          Program s within the Grants Management System (GMS) for NPS has opened or will be opening soon.  This means that the districts poverty and English Language Learners plans as well as other No Child Left Behind (NCLB) programs will be entered for the 2009-2010 school term

-          The school districts staff/administrative committee assignments and meeting dates have been published and many of the committees are up and running for this year.  You will receive minutes of those meetings in an effort to keep you apprised of their direction and action.

-          Mid- quarter reports for the first quarter will be prepared this week and will be sent home at the elementary level on Friday Sept. 18^th.

Norfolk High School’s Homecoming is scheduled for this coming Friday, September 18^th.  Be watching for a schedule of activities relative to this annual celebration.

 

            School Building and grounds and our maintenance crew continue to finish concrete jobs; parking

              lot striping and HVAC issues.  Fall plans are in order fertilizing and spraying for our school

             grounds and fields.  Winter preparations are being discussed.

 

Rationale:  The Superintendent will conduct the oath of office for Bruce Mitchell, as the newly appointed board member.

Rationale:  Recommend approval of the budget for 2009-2010 as published.

Rationale:  Recommend approval to participate in this interlocal agreement and approve the bylaws for operation of the consortium. This consortium will act on behalf of its members to assist in the required preparation and submission of claims to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for the State Medicaid Plan for services to children for screening, referral services, case plans and interventions.
