I.G.1. Construction Contract for the Conversion of Columbus High School to Columbus Middle School
Discussion:
The board accepted the base bid of $2,388,718 and alternates 3 and 4 from B-D Construction for the conversion of the high school to the middle school. Alternate 3 will be the conversion of the existing weight room to three health classrooms, and alternate 4 will be the conversion of existing art rooms on the second floor into special education, ELL and other classrooms. The recommendation was to approve alternate three and four now because they directly affect instruction. Superintendent Dr. Troy Loeffelholz said the other alternates can be approved at later a later date. RVW Architect Dan Keiter asked the B-D Construction representative Darrell Burrows if the other alternates are added later will this create issues on timeline. He said if a decision is made by the February board meeting, everything should be fine. Mr. Burrows said the one big thing on getting the alternates done will be the sport equipment order. He said B-D is ready to hit the ground running when the building is ready. Theresa Seipel said it will help that all the work is inside. |
