VII. Strategic Planning Session
Discussion:
At the last meeting, the board identified three themes with priorities under each.
1. Student Success- academic measurers; Response to Invention; preschool/early childhood; college/career readiness; 4-year plan; graduation rates; 1:1 technology; data driven decisions; and health/wellness – mental and physical.
2. Culture/Engagement/Collaboration – Students; staff; parents; more patron involvement; positive staff climate; district collaboration; Latino community involvement; barrier to success - social emotional, educational and economic (social worker); freedom principles - civics in education; and ask the right questions - surrounding yourself with those who know the questions.
3. Infrastructure–facilities; technology; financial stability and professional development.
Vision: Is WHAT we want to be.
What do we want our district, facilities, and students to look like in the next 5 years?
What are our academic expectations?
What is our vision for facilities?
What do we want our students to look like when they leave CPS?
Mission: Is how we are going to get there.
The board and community then split into 3 groups for discussion.
