2.A. Recognition of Head Coach Broc Howard and the KHS Boys Track Team as 2024 State Champions

Discussion:

Coach Howard took a moment to thank all the coaches, his own family, and their families for all the time and effort devoted to winning this state title. He spoke of his pride in the team and about individuals on the team and their drive and persistence in past years to help them achieve their goals this year. Coach Howard also thanked Mr. Bosard and the facilities team for providing an outstanding track facility for students. He acknowledged the academic accomplishments of the team and thanked the athletic department for all of their support and efforts as well.

Kent Cordes of BD Construction gave an update on all the construction projects happening throughout the district.

Discussion:

All policies were thoroughly evaluated, along with required changes and optional suggestions from legal counsel, in the committee meeting, which took place on June 5, 2024. Mr. Mundorf reviewed a few selected policies upon request. Some minor changes were discussed to policy 5101 in regard to the placement of the section on religious freedom and policy 5204 in regard to physical education requirements. Further inquiries will be made with legal and KHS. The Board agreed to move forward with first-reading approval.

Discussion:

The next regular meeting of the Kearney Public Schools Board of Education will be held on July 8, 2024 at 5:30 P.M. in the Staff Development Room in the Administration Building at 320 West 24th St, Kearney, NE 68845.
