Rationale:
The City Council has posted a copy of the Open Meetings Act, Laws of the State of Nebraska, in the back of the council chambers. Additional copies are available to read, if anyone wishes one during this meeting, please advise. |

4.A. Public Hearing - 6:00 PM - Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Budget (Ordinance 1840)
Rationale:
A public hearing for the purpose of hearing support, opposition, criticism, suggestions or observations of citizens relating to the proposed budget for fiscal year October 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013
Discussion:
Dale - Fire department vs employees - why couldn't they let the full 50,000 go back
Mayor - Reduce general fund professional services amount by 10,000, 5,000 to community service and 5,000 to civic center
Chuck - Can community service be done with 75% of of funds and time
Chief - Not my choice but it can be done
Chuck - Hate to see more cuts in services when there are utility funds available
Mayor - must be very careful with reserves
Mahlon - Fire department could let 10,000 go for AC repairs to keep position
Mayor - 10,000 from gen fund and 10,000 from fd equipment would keep position 15,000 and add to civic center 5,000
Pat West - what about next year, your yankin my chain
Terry Petracek - will the council make a motion that the position is going to be there next year, giving up funds is not easy for everyone

8. Adjournment
Rationale:
The city council will review the above matters and take such actions as they deem appropriate. The city council may enter into closed session to discuss any matter on this agenda when it is determined by the council that it is clearly necessary for protection of the public interest or the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual and if such and individual has not requested a public meeting, or as otherwise allowed by law. Any closed session shall be limited to the subject matter for which the closed session was called. If the motion to close passes, then the presiding officer immediately prior to the closed session shall restate on the record the limitation of the subject matter of the closed session. |
