1. Open Meeting

Rationale:

In accordance with Nebraska law, a copy of the Open Meetings Act can be found in the back of the Council Chambers.
Items listed on the agenda may be considered in any order.

2. Roll Call

Rationale:

Attendance of members will be recorded to determine the presence of a quorum for official actions.

3. Items of Business

Rationale:

The Committee may discuss or limit discussion on, hear testimony in favor of or in opposition to, or take action to provide a recommendation to the City Council on any matter presented under this title.

3.A. Provide a recommendation to the City Council on enacting Ordinance 2154: An ordinance relating to historic preservation.

Discussion: Kelli Bacon with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) gave an overview of the programs offered by SHPO. With the Certified Local Government (CLG) program, any properties or districts that are being suggested for the National Register of Historic Places will be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission that the city would create after approval of this ordinance. After reviewing the suggestion, the Commission will make a recommendation to the council for them to approve or deny said property or district to be put on the Register. In order to become a CLG, the city must have an active Historic Preservation Commission. Bacon provided answers to any questions that the Mayor and the Committee had.

Recommend to the City Council to enact Ordinance 2154: An ordinance relating to historic preservation. Carried with a motion by Kyle Frans and a second by Jack Oelschlager.
