|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.1. Grounds Report- T.G.
Discussion:
Tina Golter gave her report. Over the past month, Tina has continued pulling weeds and mowing the lawn. She has removed extra dirt around the football field and little trees, picked up the playground area, planted fall flowers, worked on syncing the sprinklers, and put in tree surrounds. Tina plans to put mulch in tree rings, put in four more tree rings, and assist in winterizing sprinklers.
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.2. Transportation Report - D.R.
Discussion:
Mrs. Foster read Dan Robison's transportation report. All the buses have had repairs and will be passing the certified inspections in the coming week. All fleet vehicles have been identified with a number for easy communication. Fleet vehicles will now be parked next to the north side of the building for a better camera view, and to stay safe through the winter. Dan is working on finding an efficient way to streamline the care and maintenance of the fleet vehicles.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.3. Building Maintenance Report - R.S.
Discussion:
Mrs. Foster gave Ryan Sanger's report. Platte Valley Electric came to work on the Kiln and started a plan for wiring light switches in the shop. The new LED lights have been installed in the hallways around the gym. Some classrooms have a blue covering over the light for students that need assistance with visual processing. These new LED lights have a blue light sensor in them, which would allow the need for no more covers and the light to turn blue. Ryan would like to get more LED lights to install in these specific classrooms. Mrs. Foster said we could use SPED reimbursement for the purchase of the LED lights that will be used for the visual processing students. Weathercraft came and looked at the roof. Still waiting to find out what needs to happen to fix the leak in the Elementary hallway. The water supply pipe to the cooling tower is reinsulated. Still waiting for insulation on the cooling tower.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.4. Activities Report - A.S.
Discussion:
Andy Seamann gave an Activities Report. Fall sports are winding down. There are two games left for football. For volleyball they have a conference game on Thursday, a weekend triangular and then their final game next week. JH Football has one more game and JH volleyball has a few more tournaments.
Andy mentioned that the September Gate was $2,197 with $1,405 of that from the weekend volleyball tournament. The officials cost for September was $4,600. This does not include paying for volleyball lines, or people running the clock. Currently, the district is in the hole after the officials cost and gate revenue. The district is losing people coming to the games because of the free streaming service on YouTube. There were 229 views of the last football game. The cost of officials has also gone way up, and there are many people that come to the games with passes. Concession revenue of $5,456.24. The district doesn't put on sports for making money, but if there was a solution, the district could start charging for streaming. We don't have to use YouTube, we can switch to Hudl streaming to charge people to watch our games. We can also add sponsors to our streaming. The district could also offer a streaming activity pass. Andy also mentioned that the MNAC Conference decided that all the MNAC tournaments would not accept passes this year for any MNAC sports tournament. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.5. Principal's Report - D.L.
Discussion:
First round of Fall NSCAS/MAP testing has happened. Mr. Larson has learned a lot about the testing system. He really appreciated Mrs. Assels and Mr. Blecha in helping get testing completed. Pre-ACT is scheduled for October 19th. This is a hard material test with 19 Sophomores testing. Mr. Larson went to a Med Aid Training on September 22nd and went to Stapleton for the CPI Training-- Defense Training. State MTSS training is Thursday and Friday and will be attending with Mrs. Simants and Ms. Shaw. The district had a great parent teacher conference attendance with an average percentage of 89. This doesn't include the percentage of parents that made other arrangements prior to the PT conference. Communication letters for Compulsory Attendance/Excessive Absenteeism are being sent out this week. Communication to students that need to attend Access Time/ Detention is completed by mailing out letters, phone calls sent to parents, and face to face communication with students during Eagle Time. If a student continues to miss Access Time, they will be scheduled for detention time. Students are now needing lunch passes in order to leave the cafeteria during lunch time. This eliminates students roaming the halls during lunch time. Mr. Larson gave an update on student behavior numbers for this past month.

7.6. Superintendent's Report - A.F.
Discussion:
Mrs. Foster started off her report by saying an input survey has gone out for strategic planning. The first meeting will be October 25th at 6:00 P.M at the community building.
The safety and security of the building is very important. Al's Locksmith has been contacted about the front door locking system and the phone system is in need of an update. Currently, the paging system only goes into classrooms and not the hallways or gyms. It would be great to look into an intercom system. The district has purchased walkie-talkies to enhance communication throughout the building. Both fire drills completed this year have been a minute less than previous years. The completion of required training by our ALICAP Insurance for all staff members is also being done. Safety Plans will be approved at the November board meeting. Several grants are in process. Currently waiting on the USDA grant of $25,000 for the kitchen equipment. Also working on an ARTS Now Grant for new equipment for Band and Art, along with completing an Applegate Grant to get a new laminator and new wiring for the FCS oven. Board Goal #1 - Student Centered Culture A spreadsheet of novels that are being read in the school has been completed for the board to review. Mr. Larson and Mrs. Foster are currently working on implementing a curriculum review process. The curriculum has a 7 year review cycle. Student work will be showcased in the board room and staff lounge to emphasize the importance of keeping students at the forefront of every decision the district makes. Board Goal #2 Stakeholder Engagement This goal is getting accomplished through strategic planning, meet and greet events, newsletter communications, enhanced communication via the school messenger app, and social media outreach. Board Goal #3 District Culture The district is addressing the development and growth of our staff to better serve students through the Danielson Instructional Model. We want to invest time and resources in training our educators to create a culture of consistency and predictability for all students. Current attendance is K-6: 82 students and 7-12: 92 students. There is one new option-enrollment student starting next week. Also, there is a request for three students to option enroll. Just waiting on their files and reports from their current school. |

|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Violet Gentry was selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. Violet came to speak about what her experience at Carnegie Hall would all include. Violet was nominated by Mrs. Pohlman. This event will take place from February 7-11th. The songs that will be performed will be sent out in the next couple of weeks to start practicing. Violet will be needing to raise funds for the trip. The board recommended looking into the Booster Club and the Brady School Foundation for support.

7.7.2. Flatwater Eagle Branch
Discussion:
Flatwater Bank is partnering with Brady students to help youth learn the power of saving! Students are offered an Eagle branch student account to which they can deposit money regularly. Students are encouraged to begin this saving experience now in grades K-6. At the end of each students' 6th grade year, he or she will be given the total sum of money deposited throughout their participating years.
Miss. Epp came to report on the Flatwater Bank- Eagle Branch. Students can deposit every Thursday from 7:45 to 8:05. The amount that gets deposited doesn't matter, as it's the amount of times they deposit to help them to continue to save. 71% of students have submitted their permission slips to participate. The kids are very excited about this opportunity. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
7.7.3. Teacher Professional Development Trips
Discussion:
Miss Epp went to STEM in the Rockies. A huge conference that is very interactive. She completed lots of experiments, with one including a potato launcher. She went hiking in the Rockies and visited the Arches, Canyonlands, and Dead Horse.
Mrs. Most went to San Antonio. She visited Sea World, San Antonio Zoo, and the Alamo. Animals are a big deal for preschool and she learned many new facts about animals to share with her students. Mrs. Most also learned how to ride a segway on a tour of San Antonio. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

7.8.4. Americanism
Discussion:
Haylie Donner came to speak at the Americanism Committee to showcase what has happened this past month. The last couple of years, the Pledge of Allegiance has not been shared in the High School. There were seven classrooms that did not have an American Flag. Haylie went around and figured out what classrooms needed an American Flag. There is now an attendance committee that shares announcements every morning. Every morning, a group of students talk on the phone intercom. They recite the Pledge of Allegiance, along with share sporting events for the day, lunch menu, and a fun fact or joke. Currently there are four people on the committee, but they are hoping to spread the word and get more high schoolers involved.
