1. Call to Order
Discussion:  Jon Zimmerman called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Absent - Doris & Nancy
2. Approval of the Agenda
3. Curriculum Review - Reading
Speaker(s):  Mrs. Nielsen
Discussion:  Cheryl and Betty - Talk about reading from the Middle School and Elementary. Reading district wide has improved in all areas. Betty Title I does not teach main reading K-3 phonics 3-5 read to learn Reading Street moves from each level and builds on past skills. Social Studies and Science is built into the reading. Check oral fluency using selection tests. Last Maps is algined with our program. It help those that stuggling to be identifyed for assistance since it alings 3-5 us My Sidewalks run parllel as an intervention. Pearsone Sussecc Net also same curricululm as grade level on up to middle school Page 2 shared a reading fluency assessment passage. Teaches text proof and following directions. question aligned with state standards and our curriculum. Kids progress moniter on a personal fluency sheet and is recorded once a week. Sometimes they will see a drop as the reading gets harder. The chart is to show them that practice makes you better. Shared a test. Page 5 is a reading warm up and is new this year. Gives the student background about what the reading will be about. Page 6 a parent document to help educate our parents to help at home. What they can do with that support. Page 7 Daily reading log. Teacher introduce books for them to read and list those that they are intersted in reading when they go to the libary. Page 8 Reader Response tracking. Page 10 go to library Tuesday each week on the Chome books games that let them practice. Destity system to help check out books to buildin conficence. Teach the to access the portal to see grades. Page 13 Parent Teacher Conferences report. Behavior Rubic. Helping parents to learn and be involved to support the students in reading. Most parents are grateful for the help and happy to be involved. Some kids can read words but do not comprehend. Use strategy to re read until they comprehend. Use Pearson Success Net and can access website from home.
4. Market/Branding Presentation by Foundation for Educational Services

Discussion:  Dan Kunzman and Mike Murray - FES Will be talking about Marketing and Branding. They will be coming up with a Marketing and Branding Style. Commitee of Jackie, Doris me heard proposals. Maybe this needs to be bigger than just the school. Looked at it from community Chamber, N-gage, City and Main Street. Asked the company go come back more global look. Community and committee selected FES. All groups are on board. City will take the lead on contract rest interlocal contract. Great way to partner and help build the marketing of our community as a whole. Dan- Vice President of FES. Not grant giving or receiving, but we are a support goup. Nelnet was built from FES. Eduquest also very much a part of them. Another SOCS website 700 non-profits for the web platform. Very personal to Dan as he lives here all 5 agencies together to brand these community was very special that we want to work on a brand to sell our community. Mike Murry from an agency in Lincoln and brings a great skill set. Need an emotional connection to bring this all together. How will we do this research and analysis - better understanding, how to tell the story and emotional connection. Interview will be conducted. Look at perceptions, what we stand for. Enough information to present what we hear and draws all together. Formulate a position - A statement of purpose. then take this and make an emotional commitment. This is what will rally people and feel the connection and then create design. Present a creative expression that will be an identity and position. An entire system - a voice and how we will talk of a brand, represent the community into a style guide. Images, colors and talk you should use and not use. Cost 24,500 over 5 groups will not be divided equally, but some are small so other will pick up more. Process time about 13 weeks from start to finish. Mitch - Suggest hospital to include them in this Pat has meeting set. Jason selected to present at college national conference. Mitch - important for the community you see different messages so this all pulling in this direction. Janet - How do you get the people to interview. How do you find these people. Will get from organizations and they will develop the mix short/long here and then social economic groups. This is not a focus group and individual interviews. Should be about 20 people.
5. Annual Yearly Progress (AYP)

Discussion:  Jackie Will be veg. Not released until 10:00 Thursday. Will send out more information after it is released. See handout. Lisa school is not met and want to transfer cannot have room must make a room and take a teacher from the other school.
6. Superintendent Report
Speaker(s):  Mr. Nauroth
Discussion:  Calendar for 15-16 development Put together sat with Administration when to all staff and will get info back and look at to adjust yes and no. Set down with parents/feedback and then student/feedback all happens before Board and ask for feedback. End up with a better calendar by talking with so many groups. Will bring to board at November COW. Then will start the proceess for 16-17. Nov COW will be on Monday 24th - 4th Monday - Let Council know or do in Student Programs no COW in December. Special BD meeting Monday approve policy for Construction Management at Risk. On Tuesday send out RFQF. and Second to hire the Architect firm. Still working on contract. Rex and Phralin here on Monday. Hopes the contract is here on Friday. He will send it out if possible.
7. Public Comments - This is the proper time for public questions and comments on any topic. Please make sure a request form is given to the Board Vice-President before the meeting begins.
