October 25, 2021 at 7:00 PM - Board of Education Work Session

Discussion:  A meeting of the Board of Education of Springfield Platteview Community Schools in the County of Sarpy, in the State of Nebraska, was convened in open and public session at 7:02 p.m., Monday, October 25, 2021, at the District Board Office, Central Services Building. Present:  Kyle Fisher,  Brenda Guenther,  Lisa Roseland, Brian Wichman, Cori Swanson. Absent: Brian Osborn.

 

Discussion:  Notice of the meeting was given in advance thereof by posting in at least five public places as shown by the certificate of posting notice attached to these minutes. Notice of this meeting was simultaneously given to all members of the Board of Education, and a copy of their acknowledgment of receipt of notice and the agenda was communicated in the advance notice and in the notice to the Board of Education of this meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the attendance of the public. Statute 84-1407 to 84-1414 require that the Open Meetings Act be posted in the meeting room. President Roseland informed the board and the public that the Act is located on the west wall of the board room.

Discussion:  Patron R. Kosmicki addressed the Board in regards to Facebook and Google donations.  Patrons. K. Parks and R. Walker addressed the Board in regards to masking and the Pandemic Plan.  The Board thanked them for their comments.

Discussion:  The Voluntary Separation Program for 2022 was discussed and the administration recommended that the district allow for 2 Voluntary Separation Opportunities for 2022.  

Discussion:  The Board discussed the need for softball field improvements.  Proposals were taken by the city council for the drainage issues and there was discussion in regards to partnering with the city to address the issues.

Discussion:  The Board was introduced to a proposal being shared with the legislature to restructure the statewide funding formula for schools. 

Discussion:  Superintendent Dr. Saunders provided the Board with an update on the Pandemic Plan. 

Discussion:  Superintendent Dr. Saunders presented a proposal to the Board for discussion on upgrading the video and security products at PHS and PC.  

Discussion:  The Board discussed the plans for the Veterans Day Ceremony to be held on Nov. 11th.  

Discussion:  Board members reviewed their upcoming schedule of meetings, trainings, and conventions. Significant school calendar items were also discussed.
