9. Discussion Items
|
||
9.1. Discuss FPS Roof Options
Rationale:
The front portion of the roof has been leaking for at least the last 4 weeks. If the temperature warms enough and the roof surface is dry we can use a substance that coats the areas that are leaking. This would be just a short term fix. We will discuss possible solutions and a time frame. Perhaps this should be turned over to the Building and Grounds Committee to examine and make a recommendation at the February meeting

9.2. Affordable Care Act
Rationale:
We need to have a discussion about how we are going to handle employees that are at the 30 hr per week average. Fines for not complying is $3,000 per each employee that should have been offered the single insurance plus if we fail to offer insurance to 95% of the eligible employees we pay the "Death Penalty". "Death Penalty" is (FT employees - 30) X $2,000/year. 2015-16 FT Employees (64 FT employees - 30) = 34 X $2,000/year = $68,000 Death Penalty Fine. Total Fine could be: $68,000 Death Penalty $45,000 ($3,000 X 15 eligible employees = $45,000) Grand Total: $113,000

11. Elementary Principal's Report
Rationale:
January 11, 2016 Math Curriculum Guides The Elementary teaching staff are in the process of creating new Math Curriculum Guides. The guides are established to communicate the following questions: What do we want students to learn? - Identify the essential standards at each grade level which have become our objectives for the lesson. How will we know that they have learned it? - created formative assessments and proficiency scales that allow teachers to assess student learning. How will we respond when the don't know it? - the proficiency scales provide a communication tool for students to evaluate their own learning. - it allows for teachers to provide direct intervention to the student of the skill not learned. How will we respond when they know it? - the scales provide an opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and application level of the skill to enrich learning. The math curriculum guides should be completed by the end of the school year. I have provided a sample of a proficiency scale for you to look at. The Zones of Regulations As Mrs. Simmons and the elementary classroom teachers continue teaching lessons about The Zones of Regulations we continue to add more support materials in the classroom for students and at recess. I will share the "talking point" materials we are using with students at the meeting. These tools allows for all staff to use the same language when addressing behaviors with students. Upcoming Events The honors ceremony is scheduled for the 13th of January. Our annual St. Jude's Math-A-Thon started on January 6th and will run through January 20th.
