Rationale:
Each year the flag team request help paying for their uniforms. They are requesting $100 per flag team member for this year. Mrs. Antholz made the following request:
Dear Board Members and Dr. Schroeder, The Color Guard members would like to request $100 per member to attend University of Nebraska-Kearney Color Guard Camp, July 9-11. We appreciate your past support of 8 years. There will 7 ladies attending camp this year so the total would be $700.00. This is comparable to past years. We are having 2 bake sales and a cake walk at the Franklin County Fair to also help finance camp. Sincerely, The Color Guard Team and Mrs. Antholz |

4.4. Annual Board Retreat Planning
Rationale:
Mr. Schroeder is also still taking suggestions regarding meeting sites for the July Board Meeting. The default site for the meal will be the Black Powder.
In speaking with the folks at NASB that conduct the financial planning trainings, they suggest looking at all or part of the following information. The administration would like some feedback on which pieces you would like to look at first. It will be difficult to get to all of the information in one evening. The list is as follows: General documents: 1) District budget of expenditures and receipts 2) Statewide per pupil cost information for elementary and secondary 3) Current enrollment figures and enrollment trends over the past 5 years 4) Current State Aid and trends in state aid over the past 5 years 5) Current property taxes and trends in property taxes over the past 5 years 6) District Negotiated Agreement Curriculum area: 1) Current course offerings 2) Rule 10 accreditation requirements 3) District offerings by unit compared to Rule 10 requirements 4) Schedules and course offerings from school districts of similar size Administration/Activities Director 1) Current non-instructional/administrative positions 2) Rule 10 accreditation requirements for administration 3) District current staffing compared to Rule 10 requirements Support Services 1) Current non-instructional/support services. 2) Rule 10 accreditation requirements for support services 3) District current support staff compared to Rule 10 requirements Auxillary Services 1) State requirements for the provision of transportation 2) Cost of providing transportation through bussing vs. per mile payment 3) Cost of providing food service 4) Current buildings and grounds maintenance budget 5) Current cost of all administrative assistants and secretarial staff 6) Cost of providing extra-curricular offerings 7) Auxiliary services compared to school districts of similar size

6. Elementary Principal's Report
Rationale:
Elementary Principal’s Report June 2014 President’s Award for Educational Excellence In order to receive this award, students must meet two set criteria, a grade point average of 93% or higher in grades 4th-6th and achievement in the 85 percentile or higher on the NWEA MAPS testing in the area of reading or math. These 6th grade students achieved this honor: Grace Hudson, Abraham Schroeder and Claire Harrison. President’s Award for Educational Achievement In order to achieve this award, the students must meet one of the two criteria above. These 6th grade students achieved this honor: Joseph Aberle and Makaylin Kahrs Increasing Physical Education to Improve Wellness As Franklin Public Schools continues to pursue creative ideas to engage our students in improving wellness, the committee provided me with a couple of suggestions for the 2014-15 school year that would support their mission. The first is to increase the amount of PE instructional time that students are currently scheduled. Second, to schedule recess prior to them eating lunch. Having recess before lunch may increase the child’s appetite and may decrease behavior issues in the lunchroom. Both a positive for our students! As I prepared the schedule for the upcoming school year I was able to increase PE instructional time to 30 minutes a day on Monday-Thursday and 20 minutes every Friday. I was also able to work with the kitchen to schedule recess prior to coming to lunch for all K-6 students. Honors I have included the 4th Quarter Honors for the 4th-6th grade elementary students. I am proud of our students and their strong finish to the school year. Thanks to the classroom teachers who continued to support learning until the end!
