Elementary Principal's Report December 14, 2015 End of the Year Activities Students will be entertaining the nursing home on Friday of this week. They will be performing selections from the Elementary music program held on Thursday, December 3rd. Students will be attending the annual elementary Christmas movie at the Rose Bowl Theater on Thursday of this week. Please take time to look at the Santa letters or poems students will have published this week in the Franklin County Chronicle. It is always fun to read their letters to Santa. Elementary Music Program The Elementary music program was held on the night of Thursday, December 3rd. We had a large crowd and great weather! The 6th grade band kicked off the program with a strong performance under the direction of Mr. Doyle Hanshaw. The K-3rd grade followed by the 4th-6th grade performed some very entertaining music under the direction of Mrs. Melody Antholz. Santa appeared during a special song about getting fit for Christmas doing some running and jumping jacks. The students were excited to see him! Substance Abuse Presentation The Good Beginnings group provided a two special presentations, on for the 5th-8th grade and the other for the 9th-12th grade students on December 8th. Chuck Elley, a 28 year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol was at our school to inform students about the dangers of substance use and abuse. It was a powerful program providing students with factual information and encouraged them to make good informed choices on the use of drugs and alcohol. I would like to thank Good Beginnings of Franklin for another great program that supports the health of our students and Mr. Elley for an informative and engaging program. Safety Committee Meeting The Safety Committee met on Thursday, December 3rd for its quarterly meeting. Several items were discussed at the meeting including: parking issues around the building, the numbering system on doors for better communication, activity entrance sign and entry during the basketball games. Medication Assistant, Michaela Rybacki updated the group on a faculty response team in the case of an emergency medical situation on the school grounds.
