Discussion Items: Update on draft of proposed Nebraska State Health Standards.
Discussion:
The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) is in the process of revising its first draft of Health Education standards. It was noted that there are no actionable Health Standards for the Loup City Public School Board to approve or reject. The NDE only has a second draft in development, which citizens are encouraged to submit feedback on to the NDE. Implementation of state health standards is a local control issue. It is not expected that the state will have their standards completed for school districts to review until later in Fall 2021.
Mr. Tickle was asked to review the curriculum adoption timetable and determine when the Health Standards Curriculum is due for review at LCPS. |

Superintendent's Report...a few words on Critical Race Theory.
Discussion:
Mr. Tickle addressed the idea of Critical Race Theory and its impact on PK-12 schools. It was noted that this theory, while part of the national discussion currently, has been in existence for decades and holds no more of a prominent place in today's curriculum than it did 10 years ago. It is a theory that is periodically studied in upper level courses in college and generally at the college professor's discretion. .
