Hearing of the Audience:

Discussion: The following people spoke to the board of education:
Jerry Dethlefs, spoke in opposition to the possible addition to the main campus. Diane Dethlefs, spoke on concerns of the CNCAP partnership and taxes. Tracy Rademacher spoke in oppposition to a building addition, lost Sherman County population, and tax increases. Mary Johnson spoke in opposition to the addition. Pat Johnson spoke on the need to have a vote if there is an addition. Tina Treffer spoke in opposition to an addition and the need for community consent. Rosie Wilson spoke on the ag economy and taxes. Trent Loos spoke on property taxes, efficiency, test scores and transparency. Eldon Kieborz spoke on CNCAP benefits and opposition to the addition. Cheryl Holcomb spoke on the preschool census. Clara Stobbe spoke on taxes, poverty, and opposition to addition.

Discussion Items:

Meet the Teachers - Mrs. Augustyn & Ms. Chramosta

Discussion: Mrs Augustyn and Ms Chramosta spoke to the board about their curriculum and the students they have this year. The board asked questions about technology, Boys Town training, needs for the classroom and curriculum adjustments.

Discussion of the September 30th Community Engagement Meeting

Discussion: The board held a discussion of their take aways from the September 30th Community Engagement meeting. Some takeaways were the need to show tax information about the possible financial options, meet with CNCAP, sharing more background information for the needs of the school facilities, and showing school district achievement data and incoming kindergarten data. The board committe will meet to make sure data is shared and how to continue to communicate the information to the public.

Discussion of the Marquee in the front of the 3-12 Building.

Discussion: The board discussed the need for an updated marquee and the desire to find funding for the new system.

Discussion: Ms. Simpson shared the update of the High Ability Learner plan and the need to continue working on the plan in the upcoming months.

Discuss, consider and take all necessary action to approve the cooperative athletic agreement with Aracadia Public Schools

Motion by Scott Friesen, seconded by Loraine Panowicz, The Loup City Board of Education agrees to enter into a cooperative athletic agreement for the 2020-21 and the 2021-22 school years with Arcadia Public Schools with the following conditions: The operating costs of the cooperative, deposited in the Arcadia-Loup City Coop Fund, will be split equally. The small gym in Arcadia will only be used for coop activities of low intensity with supervision. Coop games and full court practices in the Arcadia small gym will not be held. The wrestling triangular with Broken Bow and Wood River can continue to be held in the small gym on its rotation. Arcadia will host 1 home JV/Varsity basketball game each year. In the fall season practices will be distributed based on the percentage of participants from each school at the beginning of the 3rd week of practice. If a school does not have at least 20% of the participants then all practices will be in the school with the larger percentage with only 1 practice prior to a home game being at the other site. Practices in the winter and spring season will continue as scheduled currently.. Motion Carried

Elementary Principal Report

Discussion: Mr Reikofski shared information in regards to MAP testing and upcoming events!

High School Principal Report

Discussion: Mr Asche discussed the MAP test data and the areas the junior/senior high school would be addressing in the upcoming months.

Superintendent's Report

Discussion: Ms. Simpson shared some information. The AQuestt data is out and all schools received a "good" ranking. Both schools will receive a "Targeted School for Improvement" for low performance on the Spring 2019 NSCAS tests.

SHOUT OUT to the 3rd through 6th grade for their help either picking or shucking corn and snapping beans from the Trotter Litchfield Greenhouse. It was surprising how many students had never done it or seen it done. Job well done!

NASC State Student Council Convention is next Friday at Norfolk High School. Twenty-five of our members will be attending along with the advisors, Mrs. Groteluschen and Mrs. Badura. Randii Reikofski is running for State President, and Delanie Heil is running for District 3 Secretary. I have nominated Nadia VanSlyke for the All-State Student Council award and DeLynn Day for the Fantastic Freshmen (current sophomores) award. Hopefully, our candidates will be successful in their endeavors and the other girls will be recognized for all their hard work in addition to the Make-A-Wish award that we will receive at the State Convention.
Shout out to our students and parents for their great support of the Scholastic Book Fair. Our students donated nearly $700 toward book purchases. All of those books remain in each teacher's classroom.
