President Opela called the regular meeting to order of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:06 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2020, in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.

Board Development: President Opela listened to a meeting with NASB regarding virtual meetings and CARES act funding. NDE has a survey for the schools to use for parents', students and teachers views regarding online learning.

Discussion:
The treasurer's report was presented by Superintendent Gaffney.

Community Liaison
Discussion:
Superintendent presented the Community Liaisons' report which included: Fine Arts Digital show participated by six students, Community Clean-Up Week, 2,332 Box Tops collected this year, thank you to Bridget Weems for collecting Box Tops, $4,202.61 approved in Foundation grants to teachers and three $1,000 senior scholarships awarded. The Foundation Gala for 2021 has been scheduled for Friday, March 5.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report given by Tera Kostelecky included the following: Chaton Bassett, Logan Carlson and Alyson Nicholson were elected to MNAC Honorable Mention All-Academic team based on their ACT scores, current NSAA guidelines dealing with opening of gyms, weight rooms, and fields with Covid-19, the coop committee met last week, the AD materials have been handed over to Jason Wehnes. Tera thanked the board for providing her opportunities here at Stapleton. Supt. Gaffney thanked Tera for all she has done for the school district.

Discussion:
Principal Walker's report included: Science of Reading webinar, summer reading for K-5, virtual bump-up day, OWLS graduate has been employed already, 2020 Launch Nebraska Webinar, elementary field day possible date change to fall, and 7-8th grade eligible participation requirements.

Discussion:
The American Civics Committee has not been able to meet this spring, but the new social studies standards have been approved and the elementary met on Monday, May 20, 2020, to realign the standards.
Thirty chrome books have been purchased as recommended by the Technology Committee. |

Superintendent Gaffney's report presented information on the following: developing a plan regarding the start of the new school year, students last day, Preschool Development Birth through Five renewal grant, possible financing for phase 1 of construction plan, elevator cost, office manager position update, FFA position, football field fence posts, deep cleaning by Spiffy Cleaners, and lawn application.
