President Opela called the regular meeting of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 8:00 p.m. on October 21, 2019, in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.

Public Comment and Recognition of Visitors
Discussion:
Melody Hansen addressed the board regarding Polly Burnside's request for an assistant speech coach.
Sadie Trimble addressed the board regarding her children being allowed to participate in activities without having to meet the half day attendance requirements as per current board policy. Melani Wonch also addressed the board thanking them for allowing their home schooled son to participate in junior high football this year. |

Discussion:
The treasurer's report was presented to the Board by Superintendent Gaffney.

Community Liaison
Discussion:
Lacy Kinderknecht gave her Community Liaisons' report which included: attending the Stapleton Chamber meeting with junior chamber members, downtown Halloween activities, fall family event of soup supper (6:00-7:00 pm) with the One Acts presenting their play "If Only" (7:00 pm) on November 19th, continued updates to website, Facebook and local newspaper. Our Journalism class is working also with the local newspaper to write stories.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report given by Tera Kostelecky included the following: fall sports seasons are coming to a close with successes, declared 8 man for football next year, and winter sports/activities are approaching.

Richard Burnside presented the Facility Committee meeting report and proposal.
The Coop Committee updated on their last meeting. |

FFA Chapter Report
Discussion:
Che Balcom, FFA sponsor, updated the board on the program's accomplishments, activities and events this school year.

Mr. Wehnes presented a slide show to the board "Learn by Doing: Historical Skills. He addressed Nebraska Social Studies Standards.

Superintendent Gaffney's report presented information on the following: teacher PLC day with superintendent group, NRCSA fall district meeting, band performed at Harvest of Harmony Parade, student health checks completed, Brent Charlton, Coy and Cayson Johnston helped with Partner Up Rodeo, architect walk through, Safety Summit, and attended the Western Nebraska Administrators Assoc. meeting.

Principal Walker's report included the following information: MTSS, NDE October Roadshow, continuous improvement institute, Targeted Bullying Intervention Program (T-BIP), NWEA Fall MAP Growth Partners Meeting, student assemblies - "Pitfalls of Social Media" and "Vaping", and evaluations.
