President Opela called the regular meeting of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 , in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.

Notice of the meeting was published in the Stapleton Enterprise on Thursday, August 12, 2021, and posted at five local businesses along with notice to the president of the board and all members prior to the meeting date.

President Opela asked if there was any public comment and referred to the guidelines in the agenda.
Community members addressed the board concerning the safe return to school policy of Stapleton Public Schools, future Covid outbreaks, school webpage updating, and the start of school conflicting with Logan Co Fair. |

Janet Victory, high school SPED teacher and volleyball coach, addressed the board regarding her program and training she is receiving in her area.

Discussion:
Patrick Hynes, social science teacher, addressed the board regarding his curriculum and following Nebraska standards.

Community Liaison
Discussion:
Bryan Regier gave his Community Liaisons' report which included: welcome back open house, thanks to the Booster Club for the meal, communication is using class dojo again, chamber of commerce meetings have been attended and junior chamber members will be selected soon.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report given by Jason Wehnes included the following: new Maverick's Sports Calendar, Coop meeting went with new streaming company with HUDL for viewing activities, schedule changes updated, and fall sports practice has started with good numbers participating.

Discussion:
Principal Walker's report included: highlights from Administrator Day's held in Kearney, new teacher training and mentors, teacher in-service days, handbooks, eduClimber, bus, fire, evacuation drills and school class numbers.

Discussion:
Superintendent Redinger's report presented information on the following: custodial and maintenance needs, overview of sessions attended at Administrator Day's, need of substitute teachers and bus drivers, area membership meeting for board members, and previous non index wage.

The transportation committee presented highlights from their meeting with purchase of new bus through grant and other vehicle updates.

The buildings and grounds gave a report on their meeting regarding underground sprinklers and superintendent's house updates.

The board discussed the following items; current status and progress of building project, current custodial and maintenance needs of district, 2021-2022 anticipated budget, proposed Safe Return To School Plan for 2021-22 as required by the ESSER III Grant Application, current grading system, upcoming renewal of the sports cooperative with McPherson County Schools, Nebraska Health Education Standards Draft #2, and District's approach to teaching about issues that may be identified with Critical Race Theory.
