President F. Kramer called the regular meeting of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.

Discussion:
Notice of the meeting was published in the Stapleton Enterprise on Thursday, October 12, 2023, and posted at five local businesses along with notice to the president of the board and all members prior to the meeting date.

Public Comment and Recognition of Visitors
Discussion:
President F. Kramer asked if there was any public comment and referred to the guidelines in the agenda.
Duane McClain, representing the School Foundation, recapped their recent meeting. A total of $16,896.48 was awarded in grant requests submitted by school personnel. They are looking to replace community member, Dick Gewecke, who has stepped down. |

Janet Victory will present on Secondary Resource.
Discussion:
Janet Victory, high school special education teacher, addressed the board regarding her classroom and obtaining inclusion of students back into the classroom with other students, communication with her student's parents and increased tests scores of the special education students.

Community Liaison
Discussion:
Bryan Regier gave his Community Liaisons' report which included: Chamber meeting highlights of splash pad donations, Elementary Halloween Parade, Dance for 12-18 year olds (fundraiser by junior members) and annual "Trunk or Treat" downtown on October 31st. The new junior chamber members are: Marianne Zuniga, Kyle Kramer, Natalie Sheets, Kelsey Amos, Madilyn McEntee and Lilyan Sheets.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report given by Jeremiah Johnson included the following: coop renewal approved by MCS, conclusion of football, cross country and volleyball in another week, congratulations to Addie Brewer placing 1st at junior high cross country conference, coaching conferences, postseason parent meeting, play production in full swing, struggle of finding JH coaches, hosting girls wrestling tournament, theme nights for home winter sports contests, attended school foundation meeting and attending Athletic Director Conference.

Principal
Discussion:
High School Principal Johnson's included the following in his report: science MAPS testing report and phenomenal job by science teacher Patty Stewart, honor roll celebration by NHS and Polly Burnside, parent-teacher conferences, teacher observations highlights with shout out to Polly Burnside (FCS) in creative curriculum and Michele Needs for great coverage of distance learning Spanish classes, and professional development opportunities.
Elementary Principal Isom's report included: IEP's/MDT's, MAPS goals set, NSCAS results and student progress to be shared at parent-teacher conferences, CPI training, teacher observations, suicide video was completed, classrooms doing amazing things, and exciting news items happening around the school and kudos to Brenda Monson, elementary special education teacher, for her wonderful handling of students having difficulties in the classroom. |

Board Committee Reports
Discussion:
Kristy Opela expounded on the School Foundation's grant awards and building on the funds for those grant awards.
The Negotiation Committee met for their first meeting and looking forward to working toward completion for the 2024-2025 school year. |

Superintendent
Discussion:
Superintendent Redinger's report presented information on the following: possible adoption of new reading curriculum, State Education Conference, ALICAP inspection of school residence water problem in basement, superintendent evaluation due in December, and a 2017 Chrysler wheelchair accessible rear loading van purchased.
