Opening The Meeting

Call to Order
Discussion:
President Burnside called the regular meeting of the Stapleton Public Schools Board of Education to order at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.
|
|
|
District Mission Statement: The Mission of Stapleton Public Schools is to support and prepare students to read with comprehension, compute mathematically, and utilize information and technology to create solutions for modern problems and to participate as sovereign citizens in our democratic society.

Nebraska Open Meeting Act statement and poster placement
Discussion:
President Burnside observed Open Meeting Law requirements.

Discussion:
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited; the board norms were read aloud.

Discussion:
Notice of the meeting was published in the Stapleton Enterprise on Thursday, March 5, 2026, and posted at five local businesses along with notice to the president of the board and all members prior to the meeting date.

Public Comment and Recognition of Visitors
Discussion:
President Burnside asked if there was any public comment and referred to the guidelines in the agenda.
Duane McClain would like to have the board of education consider broadcasting the board meetings and thanked the board for doing what they do. |

Discussion:
The treasurer's report was presented by Superintendent Redinger.

Board Development
Discussion:
Burnside and Supt. Redinger attended the NASB Workshop and highlights were given on standards of effective board governance. It was reinforced that policy is what runs the district and everything the board does should be tied to a policy. The Board should be positive ambassadors for the district, celebrate the success and wins in all areas, culture is key. After every board meeting the Board should be able to ask what did they portray in the meeting, did they assist teachers in the classroom and/or advance student education this month.

Board Committee Reports

Sports Cooperative Committee (Wednesday, March 4)
Discussion:
The Sports Cooperative Committee met with reflection on winters sports and the resignation of Bo McVay as head boys basketball coach. Discussion was held regarding the fall sports schedule for 2026.

April: Building and Grounds & American Civics
|
|
|
Community Liaison
Discussion:
Bryan Regier gave his Community Liaisons' report which included: Chamber meeting, election of officers, Easter egg hunt will be held April 4, and Community Clean-up Day will be Monday, April 20 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Activities Director Report
Discussion:
The Activities Director's report included the following: Winter sports recap, attending athletics and activities and the tentative 2026 schedule for football and volleyball.

Principal
Discussion:
7-12 Principal report included: parent/teacher conferences, formalizing our MTSS (multi-tier system of supports) process, started Tier 2 interventions for IEP and 504 students, PBIS data, 4 to 1 positive affirmations, high school version of RARE awards, community building with students with Mrs. Schrock and Mrs. Stewart, completed evaluations of tenured teachers, Perkins Grant will be resubmitted, and will be helping chaperone Biology class's zoo field trip March 17-18. Congratulations to our students that won their division at Inter-High Day, the students that won our Quiz Bowl meet and speech is doing very well also.
PK-6 Principal Isom reported on the following: IEPs/MDTs/ELPA21, Read Across American/Dr. Seuss Week activities, parent/teacher conferences, High Ability Learner Group (HAL) meeting with 9 students and will attend HAL Day in Mullen on March 17, and summary of targeted improvement plan and NeMTSS alignment. |

Superintendent
Discussion:
Superintendent Redinger's report presented information on the following: school and community daycare needs, 3rd floor ADA restroom, new afternoon/evening custodian, and school finance update.

Presentation, Discussion, and possible action regarding student international travel.

Discussion:
Dasie Nichols, Ag/FFA teacher, presented a presentation to the board regarding the possibility of student international travel focusing on agriculture and career readiness.

Discussion regarding the streaming of meetings of the Board of Education.
Discussion:
The board discussed that they will begin streaming of board meetings.

Discussion:
The next regular board meeting will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the library at Stapleton Public Schools.
