9.A. Review of 2025-2026 Academic Calendar including DHS Graduation Date and Optional Revisions.
Discussion:
Information was provided on the 2025-26 Academic School calendar which was originally approved by the Board at its November 12, 2024 meeting. The proposed date for senior graduation is Sunday, May 17, 2026. Board members were asked to give consideration to 1) explore ways to extend spring break; and 2) revise Veterans Day observance. Board action will be taken at a future meeting.

9.B. Review Proposals for the 2026–2027 DSD Academic Calendar.
Discussion:
Information was provided on two different proposals for the 2026-27 Academic School Calendar. Each proposed calendar maintains the key elements from previous years: consistent start and end dates aligned with past practice, including Senior Graduation; a total of 7 professional development (PD) days prior to the start of the school year; additional PD days embedded throughout the year to align with grading periods; a consistent winter break schedule; and two built-in inclement weather days. Differences were in the length of Thanksgiving break, spring break, and observance of Veterans Day.

Trista Olney and Kevin Case will be at the Summer MISA (Military Impacted Schools Association) Conference the week of June 23. Tanya Gray asked members for comments on any committee changes for next school year. The board usually decides representation at the organizational meeting each year. |
