4. Presentation Regarding Enrollment, Class Size, and Finance Related to Elementary Schools & Cedar Canyon Elementary
Discussion:
President Copsey stated that he appreciates the attendance of community members. He encourages people to give their input regarding Cedar Canyon and to be part of the process. Mr. Hastings provided a report which included enrollment information and trends for each elementary school; class sizes in the district vs. those at Cedar Canyon; and financial information including the average cost per student at each elementary, district spending trends, and the uncertainty surrounding state aid to schools in Nebraska. |

Patrons wishing to speak are asked to complete the sign in sheet providing their name and asked to state their full name when speaking. The length of time each patron is allotted may be limited by the board. Board members may ask questions of patrons after receiving permission from the board president. Only those speakers recognized by the chair will be allowed to speak.
Discussion:
The following patrons spoke in favor of closing Cedar Canyon Elementary: Mike Brunner. The following citizens spoke in favor of continuing the operation of Cedar Canyon Elementary: Robert Rahmig, Joni Cowan, Becky Fitts, Amy Davies, Douglas Wheeler, Kendra Marx, Amber Rhamig, Robert Cox, Ralph Jennings, Monty Zeiler, Terry Jessen, & Joan Cromer. President Copsey, Vice President Peters, Board Member Winn, and Board Member Holliday stated appreciation to all who attended and shared information and opinions with the board. |
