2. Change Orders/Budget
Discussion:
Sweeney distributed a current summary of change orders. Topics of discussion included the project budget, Anderson & Shaw's contract, the artificial turf vendor, construction contingencies balance, estimated costs, considerations out of the depreciation fund and landscaping. Peters strongly suggested utilizing a third party to oversee the landscaping project. The gym floor is expected to be done is approximately 1 week and can have no traffic on it for two weeks after that.
Paving of the parking lot was discussed at length. The proposed estimate is for two-thirds of the lot on the east side. An additional 30' of gravel will be laid on the west side of the lot. Doll expressed his interest in paving the entire lot at one time, however, the current neighbor of the lot wishes to have the property line vicinity left as is. The lot, as designed, will house 32 to 34 vehicles. A slatted fence will be installed to provide a barrier for the neighbor. Sweeney stated that it would cost an additional $20,000+ to pave the entire lot. A permeable surface lends itself to aquire more LEED points. Moving costs were reviewed and playground installation costs were examined. Potential change orders in the amount of approximately $10,000 were also discussed. A one year warranty is provided on the structure.
Hague stated that all groups that were involved in the construction of the facility will be at the site on Tuesday, May 29th. This group will include the commisioning agent, gym floor representatives, the state fire inspector, and contractors who will be involved in the completion of the final punch list.
Hague informed the committee that the east side of the High School near the science wing will be graded and have concrete poured for additional parking areas. Cost is expected to be around $25,000 to instal 20 feet of concrete.
A work session will be held on June 11, 2012 and Sweeney will provide a project summary to the full board. The Regular Board of Education meeting is scheduled for June 18, 2012. The district is expected to assume possession of the facility around June 18th, at which time the building staff may begin to move in.
