Discussion:
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Board President Brian Copsey.

Discussion:
Superintendent Hastings welcomed and introduced Hausmann Construction project manager, Ty Kayton. A full scope progress report was provided describing areas of the project being worked on now, how the start of school will be managed, and areas where construction will begin soon. General questions from board members were addressed in further discussion. Mr. Kayton also provided an update for board members regarding site damage caused by the rain event in late May.

Discussion:
Superintendent Bob Hastings reported details surrounding back-to-school preparations which are currently underway, upcoming staff training, and opening schedules. Administrator Days will commence next week with representation from Gering Public Schools.

7.1. Discuss, consider, and take all necessary action regarding the approval of Taher (FSMC) contract renewal.
More Information:
Contract for 2018 - 2019 school year dated June 26, 2018. Proposed renewal shall be for one (1) year beginning on July 1, 2018, and continuing until June 30, 2019 unless terminated by either party as provided in the contract.
Discussion:
Pricing and terms were reviewed. Additionally, reports provided by administrators present at the meeting addressed challenges being met and the overall success of food services provided.

7.2. Discuss, consider, and take all necessary action regarding the approval of Pay Application #3 in the amount of $1,055,766.97 from Hausmann Construction for the Gering High School Project

7.3. Discuss, consider, and take all necessary action regarding the approval of Change Order #2 for the Gering High School Project.
More Information:
This change order results from the rain event that occurred on the weekend of May 19-20 and will be fully paid for by insurance.
Discussion:
This change order is being fully funded by insurance related to damage from the May rain event.

7.4. Discuss, consider, and take all necessary action regarding authorizing the superintendent to enter into a purchase agreement for a Freightliner Executive Activity Coach at a price not to exceed $235,000.
Discussion:
Discussions weighed various functional, contractual, and financial considerations. A discussion was held about the whether the district should consider purchasing two activity coaches. Consensus was reached that the board should authorize the administration to negotiate entry into a agreement to purchase two activity coaches giving them flexibility, in consultation with the business committee, to decide whether to purchase one or two vehicles.

9. Board Comments
Discussion:
Board member Mary Winn encouraged attendees to visit the Gering Public School's district office to see the outcome of recent volunteer beautification efforts invested by employees and their families. She expressed deep gratitude and excitement for the sense of community pride displayed. Mary also highlighted the schools involvement in the Oregon Trail Days kiddie parade with a positive impact on school spirit. Brent Holliday added sentiment for the photos Matt Payne voluntarily captured via drone illustrating and documenting the contrast of construction "before and after" at the high school. In closing, Board President Brian Copsey recognized the Gering High School Samsung Solve team accomplishments extending an invitation to attend the September board meeting as presenters. He also applauded the district's recent community involvement at this year's kiddie parade in which he was able to witness firsthand.
