5.1. Recognition of Bulldog Staff Member of the Month: Justin Reinmuth - Senior High School, Industrial Technology Teacher
Discussion:
Principal Hubbard presented Mr. Reinmuth with a plaque recognizing his outstanding efforts in enhancing the district's STEM curriculum over the course of the past three years. Assistant Principal Knight shared multiple nominations highlighting increased enrollment within and expansion of his programs, national exposure received through success in the Samsung Solve competitions, and positive daily peer-to-peer interactions. In closing, Reinmuth shared an update on current student ventures within the STEM program.

5.2. Geil Elementary Report
Discussion:
Staff members from Geil Elementary presented about target planning times implemented to provided additional opportunities for enrichment within the classroom. Fourth grade student McKenzie Plummer shared her firsthand experiences which have helped her and her classmates excel further academically.

5.3. Curriculum Committee Report
Discussion:
Chairperson Mary Winn offered an update from October's meeting hosted at the Freshman Academy. Committee members Brent Holliday and Josh Lacy shared positive feedback related to the new Dean of Students, Mario Chavez, and the innovative approaches adopted in his plans for the 2019-2020 transitions.

5.4. Facilities Committee Report
Discussion:
Chairperson BJ Peters provided attendees with an update on the construction project currently underway at the Senior High School.

5.5. Business Committee Report
Discussion:
Chairperson Brent Holliday reported that the previous activities bus that had been out of commission was sold. The replacement bus is scheduled to arrive later this month, and application of GPS logos will take place upon arrival.

Discussion:
Superintendent Hastings provided an update on continued progress at the Gering High School, and highlighted agendas for the upcoming GPS Foundation meeting, NASB Board workshop and State Education Conference.

9. Board Comments
Discussion:
Board member Brady Shaul expressed enthusiasm for the STEM program under Reinmuth's leadership stating it would have benefited his current career. Josh Lacy shared his appreciation for the available network and collaboration taking place among peers within our district. Mary Winn shared Lacy's sentiments focusing on the elementary reading programs which encourage students to collaborate supporting a lifelong learning mindset. She congratulated both the Junior High Cross Country and High School Girls Golf teams on their second place finishes in state competition. Brent Holliday enjoyed the interaction his committee had with students at the Freshman academy, and felt added support for the GPS Foundation would be timely with the anticipated district-wide transitions. BJ Peters was anxious to attend the upcoming Board workshop in November indicating his past experiences were positive and worth the personal investment / commitment. Board President Brian Copsey agreed with Mr. Peter's statements adding it is an important assessment that will ensure that the Board continues functioning internally at the highest level. He further highlighted an upcoming Candidate Forum to be hosted by the Scottsbluff / Gering Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, October 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Scotts Bluff County Court House.
