The Board of Education reserves the right to enter into Executive Session for the protection of the public interest; or the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of an individual, and if the individual has not requested a public meeting.

3. Reports and Discussions

3.1. Superintendent Search Process
Discussion:
Shari Becker with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB) joined the meeting via Zoom to further discuss the Superintendent search process. A timeline of events was established with input from the board. Selection will occur by yearend to allow the candidate sufficient notice for their current employer, and offer a strong, seamless transition between Interim Superintendent Gary Cooper and the incoming leader. The position will be posted today with advertisements being published across several avenues this week. Applicants can apply through Sunday, November 8. In the meantime, NASB will work closely with the board to establish interview procedures and gather input from district stakeholders, including, but not limited to, community members, staff, parents and students. After the application period closes, NASB will utilize two weeks for screening candidates. On Monday, November 23, applicants will be presented to the school board with interviewees being selected and scheduled. The week of November 30, GPS will host one candidate each day as they meet with building administrators, tour the district, and interview with school board members for the position.
