Discussion:
Superintendent Hastings encouraged the Board to visit with him if anyone had questions regarding the negotiated agreement.

More Information:
Representatives from the Gering Citizen (Kay Grote), Gering Courier (Brad Staman), and Star-Herald may be present to discuss what they have to offer and answer questions from the board.
Discussion:
Representatives from the Gering Citizen, the Gering Courier and the Star Herald newspapers were in attendance. Lisa Betz, Owner of the Gering Citizen, presented information and examples about their district coverage. Kay Grote, Editor of the Gering Citizen also provided information about her goals and service in local media. The Gering Citizen has served as the district's "Paper of Record" since 2011. Jim Holland from the Star Herald provided information and data regarding their community services and circulation and coverage strengths. Brad Staman, Editor of the Gering Courier, provided information regarding their coverage of the school system, services provided, and the paper's ownership.
Copsey spoke to the Board's desire to keep business local to Gering as much as possible. Copsey lauded all three newspapers and their contributions to the Gering district. He pointed out that the district will continue to utilize all three newspapers when appropriate.
Winn led a discussion about a news article that was published in the Gering Citizen last fall and Betz addressed the Board's concerns regarding the article.
Doll inquired as to online options and deadlines from all three newspapers.

6.2. Approval of 2014-2015 Negotiated Agreement
Discussion:
Hastings provided information on the ratified teacher negotiated agreement, one year, increase of 2.9% of total package, $500 base salary increase, offered an outline for those interested. Contractual language changes.
Doll thanked the Personnel Committee for their contribution of time and efforts to make this reasonable agreement.
