5. Reports and Discussions
|
5.1. Board Committee Report: Curriculum & Personnel
Discussion:
Tracy Wiese- Majority of the meeting was spent discussing the upcoming school years budget. Kory Knight talked about the new K-8 curriculum as well as the 9th grade fall assessment to prepare for the ACT testing. Goals and incentives are still taking place at our high school, which has helped with missing assignments for students.
|
5.2. Board Committee Report: Finance & Facilities
Discussion:
Josh Lacy- The budget was also discussed at this meeting. He mentioned all the hard work that goes into the budget, and thanked the business team for the countless hours spent on it. The Greenhouse is underway, and without the support from the Foundation and Community, it would not be possible to get it up and running. With that being said, the greenhouse will be onsite in 9 weeks once the BOE acts on this item. Gering Public Schools should be proud of all there is to offer our students.
|
5.2.i. Monthly Finance Summary Report
|
5.3. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Dr. Regan just wanted to give her team a shout on the reunification drill that was conducted district wide today. She mentioned that she has the best group of teachers to protect our students!

8. Board Comments
Discussion:
Tracy Wiese- Can't believe how quickly the school year is going. She has enjoyed attending all the fall activities, and plans to start visiting all the schools very soon.
Josh Lacy- Thanked the UNMC students for attending the board meeting tonight. Appreciates the continued hard work on the district's budget as well! John Maser- I am left speechless. Thanks Stacy Rodriguez and Dr. Regan for all the work involved in planning the 2023-24 school year budget. Greg Trautman- I have enjoyed watching all of the fall activities, and has thanked GPS for the welcoming feeling they give all students when entering a new club that the district has to offer. Thanked Stacy for always being willing to explain budget questions, and feels strongly that everything is moving in the right direction. BJ Peters- The value of extra-curricular is huge in the district, and many students are involved. I love seeing the community support our career pathways are receiving from our local businesses. The most important job as a school board member is taking care of tax payers' dollars, and appreciate the board's efforts! |
