The Board recognizes the importance of citizen participation in school business. In order to assure citizens are heard and board meetings are conducted efficiently and in an organized manner, the Board shall set a 3 minute time limit per patron, not to exceed a total of 10 minutes for all comments.
Discussion:
Members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes announced that they will be holding a fund raiser Saturday, October 11th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Fresh Foods in Gering, Nebraska. There will be guest speakers, live entertainment, and grilled foods. They also spoke of their mission which consists of four C's, coaches, camps, campuses, and communities.
FCA has recently acquired a facebook page which will display events and sources of inspirations.

Mary Winn reported the curriculum committee went over test scores and the differences between the scores.

The Business Committee reviewed all bills for this consent agenda. Bills unique to this month were discussed for clarification. The total amount of bills approved in the consent agenda for the month of August, 2015 by specific funds are as follows:
Discussion:
Brady Shaul reported for the business committee which approved the AP list. They also discussed issues with the buses and charter buses. Raising money to update the school auditorium and sound system are also on their list of priorities.

Astronaut Visit Facilities Study
Discussion:
Bob Hastings was pleased to announce Gering Schools is anticipating a special guest September 24th and 25th. Nick Hague, an astronaut, will be visiting the schools to speak with the students about his experiences and the space program. We are confident that his presence will help students become more enthusiastic about science and mathematics.
RB+B will be presenting a first draft with information regarding facilities within the month.
Mr. Hastings gave thanks to the City of Gering for being accommodating to the Gering Public Schools with changing the dates of the Board of Education Meeting.
The Disaster Mitigation Plan was also discussed.

Discussion:
The Board of Education was pleased with the outcome of the crisis staff and employees of the Gering Public schools during a time of tragedy. All members are extremely impressed with the support that was given in time of need.
