5. Discussion Items
5.1. Current Legislation
Discussion:
Mr. Best led a discussion on several bills currently being discussed by the State Legislature. Property Tax reduction is a hot topic with several bills introduced and proposals being considered. Given the budgetary shortfalls being experienced at the state level, meaningful property tax reduction will be difficult to advance. There are many other education-related Bills that will have difficulty getting out of committee debate.
5.2. Recognition Projects
Discussion:
A discussion was led by Mr. Best regarding updating the athletic record boards, adding some historical displays in the hallways as this is the 20th year since the consolidation of Henderson and Bradshaw, rearranging and updating the entryways and hallway trophy cases, and possibly hanging banners recognizing Heartland Runner-up and State Championships. Also, discussion was held regarding the possibility of making the new championship display on the north wall of the north gym easier to read. Proposals will be presented at future meetings.
