2. Public Support, Opposition, Criticism, Suggestions or Observations of District Patrons to the Proposed Budgets for all Funds for 2016-2017 Budget Yeat
Discussion:
Mr. Larry Shields voiced a positive comment about how it has been nice to see the districts levy reduced over the past 10 or so years.. However, he stated that over the past 10 or 11 years the taxes placed upon his farm have tripled while recognizing the fact the the appraised value has increased at the same time. He questioned the sustainability of having such high taxes while facing reduced revenues on the farm. He also asked the Board why they approved pay increases of 2.4% last year while knowing the ag economy was hurting. He asked the Board to not approve the proposed budget at this time.
