Discussion:  Brad Hays congratulated the girls on their incredible journey.  Kendra Rogers stated it was an amazing experience.  The team had 3 seniors.  Coach Hosick introduced the team.  Coach Umcheid gave a report on the season.  Gweneth Davis and Mikayla Pate are McCook 1st state qualifiers.

Discussion:  Mr. Sughroe and Mr. Jedlecki gave a presentation on a Lichtenburg device for burning wood that the department built.

Discussion: 

 

• Football classification change 

• Potential for other classification changes for next year and beyond

  • Possibility that boys basketball will go to C1, we will not find out until next fall because they use current year data.

  • We believe that our boys' sports will go through a lul for a while, but will return to B in all events in a couple of years.... UNLESS the classification system changes. 

• Policy on how to handle racial slurs during activities

  • Make a specific section for the student handbook.

• Thoughts on a shot clock in basketball

  • Class A vs class A basketball will have a shot clock

    • Issues with the clock is having an extra person there to run the shot clock

• Update on girls wrestling and how things are going

  • Bids on the bleachers have been high enough that we should look at this being a bond issue. 

• Track facilities

  • We have received all of the bids on the track and the Board will make a decision on the track, along with the parking lots, at the February board meeting.

  • There are staff members who want to stop working in activities, but we are trying to keep them as happy as we can. 

  • Visit with coaches about summer camps and have the older boys that are helping to use appropriate language with the younger 

Discussion:  Nebraska Student-Centered Assessment System (NSCAS)

A criterion-referenced test (CRT) is designed to measure a student's academic performance against some standard or criteria. This standard or criteria is predetermined before students begin the test.

MPS criteria are predetermined essential learning objectives which make up the foundation of our District's curriculum.

Projects - Updates
Mr. Ben Vetrovsky classroom:  work is in progress.  Deconstruction is complete, and Rebuild is taking place.
SH/JH HVAC front End:  Rasmussen and Mr. Paz have been working on upgrades on this project.
Auditorium Audio/Video system:  The screen, projector, and sound system at the auditorium has been updated and work is completed

Food Services: RFP has been completed and turned into the NDE for approval
Pre-bid conference with FSMC was held Feb 10th.
FSMC have until Mar 28, 2022to submit a bid.
We must score and select a company by April 5th, 2022

Discussion:  Tom Bredvick thanked the district for allowing the board to attend the ESU 15/16 training session.  Loretta Hauxwell thanked Mr. Lyons  for W design report 

Discussion:  Loretta Hauxwell thanked the Admistration's families for their involvement in our schools.  It is really nice to see so many involved,
Theresa Thomas commented on the school spirit being so high!  Students are really engaged at our events.
Tom Bredvick wanted teachers to know how important they are, and thanked them for all their efforts.
Dennis Berry commented that success is driven by a great board that cares about students and the administrative team that is leading.
Brad Hays commented on being 2 points higher on the ACT. and on all the athletic records that have recently been broken.
Jeff Gross Thanked Herb Johnson who is retiring on Feb 22, 2022 for all he has done for the school system, and for all he has done in the community.
Grant Norgaard thanks Tracy Flaska for all her efforts with the food backpack program.
