Review and approval of snack program for the 2026-2027 school year

Discussion:
The snack program was continued last year at no cost to students. After review by NDE services, snacks are to be 'smart' snacks and if not charged to the student, the general fund needs to reimburse the school nutrition fund for that cost. The second semester's cost was just over $1,000 for the high school. If estimated to include the elementary and both semesters, it would appear that the snack program costs the district an estimated $4,000 per year. Options would include charging students for snacks, discontinuing the snack program, or some combination such as continuing the program at elementary and possibly not high school, charging or not for the snacks, or something else.

Consider and adopt new Board Policy based on NASB and Perry Law Firm policies.
Discussion:
We are very close to having access to the new policies. However, I won't have them until later in the week of the board meeting. I need to do their training and should be able to do that in the next few days, so we should have access for sure before the July meeting. There are also several annual reviews and/or hearings for policies that we will need to complete before the beginning of the new year.

Official Meetings Notice: The next regular board meeting will be held in the high school lecture hall at Dunning, NE and will be held July 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be open to the public and agendas are kept continually current and available for public inspection in the Superintendent’s office during regular business hours with reasonable notice.
